Parents worry about exorbitant school bus fares
With summer break nearing its end and students preparing to return to school, parents are facing nail-biting concerns over bus fares, as some companies and institutions are raising costs by over 100 percent, disregarding the 16 percent official hike set by Istanbul Municipality's Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME).

VIDEO: Dancer in Istanbul bus finds no partner
Most buses in Istanbul are so packed that it is hard to move even a finger, but a man has managed to display his "creative" dance, although he failed to find a partner.
This video was shot by a passenger on a 14R line public bus going from the Asian district of Kad?köy to the Rasathane neighborhood late April 27.

Fifty-two passengers escape death from burning bus
A bus travelling from Istanbul to Ãanakkale with 52 passengers caught on fire near the KeÅan district of the province of Edirne early July 30. Miraculously, no one was hurt despite the incident took place early in the morning. Passengers warned the driver when they noticed a smell coming from the motor.

Passengers injured in public bus crash in Istanbul
Twenty people were wounded when a public bus crashed into a wall after its driver lost control in Istanbul on July 29.
A speeding car first hit another car and then hit the bus in the Ãekmeköy neighborhood of Istanbulâs Asian part. The bus could only stop after hitting a wall after drifting for 30 meters.

VIDEO: Four killed after public bus catches fire in Istanbul
Four people were killed when a public bus caught fire in Istanbul on July 27.
A fire broke out on the public bus, which was traveling from Tuzla to Topkapı, as it was proceeding on the TEM highway in Kavacık on the Asian side.
The driver managed to stop the bus after crashing into safety fence.
Buses in suburbs being attacked by stone throwers
Attacks on public buses by stone-throwing youths are becoming increasingly frequent, particularly in the run-down northern and western suburbs of Athens, according to staff at the state-run company that manages Atticas buses and trolley buses, OSY.
