Arrivals at Greek airports rise 10 percent
More than 44 million passengers used Greek airports in the January-to-August 2018 period, up 9.9 percent from the same period in 2017, while there was also an 8.7 percent increase in the number of flights, Civil Aviation Authority figures have shown.

Fare dodgers on the decline on Athens transport system
The Greek capital's public transport operator OASA announced a 12.12 percent increase in revenues in July, when measures went into effect as part of a crackdown on fare dodging on buses, the Athens metro and the ISAP electric railway.
These measures included a ban on passengers boarding buses via the back door as well as the activation of ticket barriers at metro and ISAP stations.
Athens bus tickets sales rise after scheme blocks free riders
Ticket revenues from buses in the Greek capital surged by up to 25 percent in the past month after the state-run operator clamped down on free riders by only letting passengers get on at the front.
Greek public transport operator OASA previously estimated that one in three bus passengers sneaked in through the back doors and dodged the few inspectors on duty.

Hoax bomb threat forces plane to land in Crete
A bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax forced a passenger plane flying from Egypt to Germany to make an emergency landing in Crete on Thursday.
The Boeing 757 of Condor Airlines was flying from Egypt's Hurghada airport to Germany's Dusseldorf with 281 passengers onboard, when it diverted its course to land in Crete.

Tram workers furious at removal of ticket machines
News that Athens transport authorities have transferred more than half of the ticket issuing machines on the capital's tram routes to metro and electric railway stations around the city to meet increased demand on the latter modes of transport has prompted an angry reaction by tram workers.

OASA cutting number of ticket issuing offices
The Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) is reducing the number of ticket issuing booths operating at the capital's metro stations. Only 20 out of 65 stations now have ticket offices.
