5-hour public transport strikes from 10am to 3pm Monday
Transport to the Athens International airport will be disrupted due to a 5-hour strike Monday from the Suburban Railway and the Athens Metro from 10am to 3pm. The Athens to Thessaloniki railway lines will also stop due to industrial actions, as will the suburban line. More specifically the following lines will stop:

Checks on 151 beaches around Attica found that 55 of these were unfit to swim at. The Panhellenic Center of Ecological Research (PAKOE) analyzed the seawater from May 2 through to 25, taking three samples from every enclave. (Unsuitable beaches are in bold)

Pyrgos considers drastic action to solve trash woes
Local authorities and residents of Pyrgos in the Peloponnese are considering drastic action in a bid to force a solution to the town?s burgeoning trash problem, Kathimerini understands.
If the problem is not solved by the end of the week, schools will close, according to local councilor Takis Antonakopoulos, who has called on the entire local council to resign in protest.
5 Bulgarians Injured in Car Crash in Greece
Five Bulgarian nationals, including a six-year old girl, have been injured in a deadly car crash in Greece.
The car crash occurred on the road from Patras to Pyrgos.
The injured were taken to hospital.

Last fugitive from Pyrgos police station caught
The last of the five men who had escaped from a police station in Pyrgos was recaptured late on Wednesday, officers said on Thursday.
The 25-year-old man had not left the Peloponnese and was arrested in the town of Epitalio, Ilia.
The other four had also been picked up in Ilia.

Ancient Olympia mayor accused of breaking environmental law bailed
The mayor of Ancient Olympia, Efthymios Kotzias, was released on a 50,000-euro bail payment on Wednesday after defending himself before a magistrate in Pyrgos, in the western Peloponnese, on charges of harming the environment.
