Land Registry opens on Monday for four areas in Ilia, Peloponnese
Property owners in four parts of the Peloponnesian region of Ilia - Amaliada, Aghios Georgios, Kolirio and Lastaiika - will have from Monday and until March 19 to submit their paperwork for registering their properties on the national cadaster.
Municipal worker crushed by garbage truck in Katakolo
A woman working for the municipal authority of Pyrgos in the western Peloponnese died after being crushed by a garbage truck in the seaside town of Katakolo on Wednesday.
According to initial reports, the 30-year-old woman appears to have fallen off the small platform used by bin collectors on the back of the truck and ended up beneath the vehicle's wheels.
Firefighter injured by falling rock in Peloponnese
A 36-year-old firefighter who sustained a head injury from a falling rock while battling a blaze on the outskirts of Zaharo in the western Peloponnese on Tuesday has to undergo more medical tests, his doctors have said.

Beach Party | Halkidiki | To July 23

Hail and heavy rainfalls disrupt traffic in Peloponnese (photos)
Many sections of the Patras-Pyrgos national highway in the Peloponnese have been flooded due to the heavy rain, with a large part of the road covered in hail. It is the second day that the region of Ilia in the Peloponnese is experiencing heavy rainfalls, while areas in the Kampos plain are covered in snow.
Three killed in torrential rains in Greece (photos+videos)
Three people lost their lives in heavy rainfall, Tuesday. A 63-year-old woman, near the city of Kalamata in the Peloponnese, who was confined to a wheel-chair, was trapped in her basement level apartment when waters flooded her house before help could arrive. An 80-year-old man in Thourio and an unidentified man also lost their lives in the weather storm.
Tornado spawns damage in Katakolo
A tornado passed through the area of Katakolo in the Peloponnese, Tuesday, uprooting trees and causing widespread damage, amid heavy rain.
The local fire service received dozens of calls from residents to pump out flooded basement homes and stores. The town of Pyrgos was particularly badly affected.

Unbelievable! Ex-employer pours coffee over toddler, causes serious burns
Bulgarian Georgia Ratka Georgieva, aged 60, who lives and works in the region of Pyrgos, southern Greece, visited her former employer to demand 120 euros in wages that were owed to her. Angered by this, the man poured a pot of stinging hot coffee over the woman causing damage to herself and her grandson, aged 2, who had accompanied her on the visit.
5-hour public transport strikes from 10am to 3pm Monday
Transport to the Athens International airport will be disrupted due to a 5-hour strike Monday from the Suburban Railway and the Athens Metro from 10am to 3pm. The Athens to Thessaloniki railway lines will also stop due to industrial actions, as will the suburban line. More specifically the following lines will stop:
