Strong Winds and Heavy Snowfalls Expected in South Bulgaria on January 3

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued code yellow over strong winds and heavy snowfall in 8 Bulgarian districts on Thursday (Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Smolyan, Kardzhali, Haskvo, Yambol and Burgas), quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio.

Emergency Sirens will be Tested throughout Bulgaria

In several cities in the country today, at 13:00 will be tested the emergency sirens, informs the Ministry of Interior.
 
The tests will be in Burgas, Varna, Kardzhali, Montana, Pazardzhik Pleven, Plovdiv, Rousse, Smolyan, Sofia, Vratsa as well as in the settlements in the 30-kilometer zone around the Kozloduy NPP.
 

Bulgaria's Govt Dismisses Half of Regional Governors, Appoints New Ones

Fourteen of the twenty-eight regional governors of Bulgaria have been replaced, the cabinet has said after a regular meeting.

There will be new governors in Blagoevgrad, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Lovech, Silistra, Sofia-region, the capital Sofia, Targovishte, Haskovo, Shumen, and Yambol.

Heavy Rainfall Expected in Sofia Region, SW Bulgaria

Seven Bulgarian regions have been placed under a Code Yellow warning over heavy showers on Tuesday, the national weather service has said.

The alert covers Blagoevgrad, Kyustendil, Pazardzhik, Pernik, Smolyan, Sofia-region and Sofia-city (areas adjacent to the capital).

Downpours are expected to reach 35 liters per sqm.

Protest of General Practitioners Spreads to Five Other Bulgarian Regions

General practitioners (GPs) from five other Bulgarian regions will join the actions of their colleagues from the first four regions who began protesting by closing their practices on Monday.

The protests began in Veliko Tarnovo, Kyustendil, Razgrad, and Yambol, with Sliven, Smolyan, Pernik, Pazardzhik and Lovech set to join on Tuesday.

Code Orange Issued in 12 Bulgaria Districts over Bad Weather

A code orange warning has been issued by authorities in twelve Bulgaria districts as Southern and Eastern Bulgaria have seen heavy downpours in the past 24 hours.

The districts affected are Silistra, Dobrich, Shumen and Varna (in the north-east), Burgas and Yambol (south-east), Haskovo, Kardzhali, Smolyan, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik (south) and Blagoevgrad (southwestern Bulgaria).

The hoteliers in the old capital of Bulgaria, Veliko Tarnovo, are the most hospitable in the country, according to a survey of the trivago.bg hotel internet portal among 140 M users of 30 localised versions of the portal.

The region gets an average user rating of 83 points, out of 100. Highest ranking accommodation in the Veliko Tarnovo region is Hostel Mostel with 90 points.
