The number of those wishing to join the Bulgarian army has decreased sharply because of the "powerful disinformation campaign and propaganda that is in pro-Russian and anti-Bulgarian interest", said Defense Minister Todor Tagarev this morning on Euronews Bulgaria.

Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev signed a decree today scheduling the elections for mayors and municipal councilors for October 29.

The head of state has determined the date after a working meeting with representatives of the leadership of the Central Election Commission (CEc).

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev stated that emergency measures are needed to recruit qualified military personnel. The head of state spoke to the graduates of the Military Academy.

The coalition "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB) submitted this morning a draft decision to the National Assembly, with which the Port of Rosenets returns to the control of the Bulgarian state.

"The topic of Ukraine is clearly being exploited by the rulers as a lifeline to divert people's attention from the lack of vision, program and real actions in response to the problems facing the country", President Rumen Radev told journalists in Burgas.

"It is the duty of those involved in the hostilities in Ukraine, as well as the international community, to seek a peaceful solution". This is stated in the position of the head of state Rumen Radev.

"Ukraine insists on waging this war. But it should also be clear that the whole of Europe is paying the bill. And this war has many dimensions.

I say again, it is not only purely military - it has an economic, social and political dimension. It is a threat and a risk to all of Europe."

With the raising of the Bulgarian national flag, the Unification Monument - "Rozhen" pillar - was officially opened. The ceremony was accompanied by a live performance with historical paintings, a fireworks show and the raising of the Bulgarian national flag.

Days after the visit of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Bulgarian head of state Rumen Radev criticized the actions of both the government and parliament regarding the war between Ukraine and Russia, as well as the organization surrounding the event itself.
