Ex-President Parvanov: I’ll Stay in Politics but Outside Parliament

Former President Georgi Parvanov said on Monday he will remain active in Bulgaria’s political life without running for member of parliament in the October election.

Parvanov, who served two successive terms of office from 2002 to 2012, told Nova TV channel that he was not in politics to make a living and seeking a seat in parliament does not befit a head of state.

An asteroid is to be named after the son of Tsetska Tsacheva, former Bulgarian Parliament Speaker.

Tsacheva's son, Rumen Dangovski, won second place in the world's largest international pre-university science competition, Intel's International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), according to reports of Standard daily.

Bulgarian Development Bank's New Executive Board Assumes Office

Prof. Nikolay Nenovski, Denitsa Kirilova and Emil Karanikolov will be the three new members of the Supervisory Board of the Bulgarian Bank for Development JSC.

The three, who were elected at a regular general assembly of the bank's shareholders earlier this month, will replace Diana Dragneva-Ivanova, Rumen Porozhanov and Stefan Belchev, who held the position last year.

Ex Interior Minister Examined by Sofia Police over Vote-Buying Signal

Former Interior Minister Rumen Petkov was questioned at the Sofia Police Directorate Sunday morning on a vote-buying tip-off.

Petkov, former Mayor of Pleven, is an activist of the ABV Movement (Alternative for Bulgarian Revival) of former two-term President Georgi Parvanov (2002 – 2012) in the campaign for the European elections.
