US grandma, 92, sets record for oldest woman marathoner
A 92-year-old US grandmother has become the oldest woman to finish a marathon, when she crossed the finish line of a San Diego 26-miler on May 31, race organizers said.
Record number of marathon participants, soldiers to race too
BELGRADE - Preparations for the 28th Belgrade Marathon have been completed and the race, due to take place on April 18, should gather a record number of participants in elite races, the organisers of the Belgrade traditional event announced in the City Assembly on Tuesday.
Kenya's Korir wins Paris Marathon
Mark Korir of Kenya won the Paris Marathon on April 12, his first career victory in a prestigious international race.
Korir, 30, who was second in last month's Paris Half-Marathon, came home in a time of 2hr 05min 46sec, ahead of another Kenyan, Luka Kanda.
Seboka Tola of Ethiopia was third, with yet another Kenyan, Mike Kigen, fourth.

Marathon marked for doping crackdown
Athletics global governing body is to launch a doping crackdown on elite marathon runners after scandals involving top Kenyan and Russian stars.
Organisers of the top races in London, New York, Boston, Chicago, Tokyo and Berlin have agreed to finance extra testing of top runners by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

Legendary marathon runner Franjo Mihalic passes away
BELGRADE- Renowned Yugoslav marathon runner Franjo Mihalic passed away at the age of 95 in Belgrade on Saturday.
The legendary winner of silver medals at the Olympics in Melbourne dedicated his whole life to sport, especially athletics.
Mihalic broke down 22 records in his career, and his greatest success was the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in April 1956.
Ethiopian double in Sao Paulo year-end race
Ethiopian athletes scored a double success Dec. 31 in the traditional New year's Eve road race in Sao Paulo, with Dawit Admasu taking the honours for the men and 2008 champion Ymer Wude Ayalew winning the women's race.

AIMS president, 68, finishes his first Athens Marathon

True to his word, the president of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), Paco Borao finished the Athens Marathon-The Authentic on Sunday, at the age of 68 years, running the course for the first time in his life.
