New alert about migrant vessel two days after disaster
Italy on Friday alerted Greece to a vessel holding dozens of migrants sailing off the southern coastal town of Pylos, two sources said, just two days after an overcrowded fishing boat sank nearby killing at least 78 people.
Sailboat being monitored near area of deadly wreck
A sailboat with about 60 people on board some 100 kilometers off Pylos on Greece's southern coast was spotted on Friday by Italian authorities, who informed their Greek counterparts.
The vessel did not send a distress signal, and was, reportedly, sailing normally.
It was reportedly being monitored by the authorities, according to state broadcaster ERT.

Boats set sail for the first Bosphorus race of the year
More than 40 competitors have participated in the first sailing race of the year on the Bosphorus in Istanbul, one of the most challenging sailing race courses in Türkiye, famous for its strong currents coming from the north.
Organized by Bahçeşehir University for the 11th time this year, the BAU Bosphorus Sailing Cup saw more than 40 sailboats set sail on the strait.
Woman becomes 1st Turkish female sailor to cross Atlantic
Completing her struggle with the waves that lasted 24 days, sailor Başak Mireli has become the first Turkish woman who managed to cross the Atlantic Ocean alone.
Sailing athlete Mireli completed his solo Atlantic Ocean voyage which started on Dec. 23, 2022.
Slovenia’s sailboat finishes second at Barcolana
Trieste – Sailor Gašper Vinčec and his crew finished second at this year’s Barcolana, the biggest mass start sailing regatta in the world, which took place in Trieste on Sunday. The winners were Italians led by Furio Benussi in the sailboat Arco.
