BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic posthumously awarded the crew of military helicopter and medical workers who died in a crash near the Belgrade airport on March 13 while rescuing a baby whose life was in danger, Nikolic's office told Tanjug on Wednesday.

Police "didn't get official request to send helicopter"

KURSUMLIJA, PRIJEPOLJE, LJIG -- Villagers in Igriste, south Kursumlija in central Serbia, have appealed on municipal authorities to clear the snow from the road leading to the village.

PRIJEPOLJE - Fifty homesteads in the villages around Prijepolje, southwestern Serbia, are cut off from the rest of the world because of heavy snowfall, but the authorities are working to clear local roads.

The thickness of the snow cover reaches 1 m in some locations and the villages have been without power for several days, local official Goran Vujasevic told Tanjug on Tuesday.
