Bulgaria Continues with 'Struma' Motorway

Bulgaria has started work on a 12.6km section of ''Struma'' motorway between the southwestern towns of Blagoevgrad and Krupnik.

A consortium led by Bulgarian construction company Agromah is building the section under a contract worth just over EUR 71 million, according to the regional development ministry.

Work is scheduled to end in August 2019.

NIMH: Weather Will be Sunny, Short Rains in Many Places in the Afternoon

The weather will be mostly sunny before noon today. Clouds will develop around noon and in the afternoon, with short rains in many places, according to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH), quoted by FOCUS News Agency.

There are conditions for hails too.

The wind will be light to moderate from Northwest.

Lot 3.1 of Struma Motorway to be Built from August

Construction of lot 3.1 of the Struma motorway will start in August, Minister Nikolay Nankov told BTV's morning show, quoted by the press office of the Regional Development Ministry.

There is already a selected builder and financing for the stretch, while the construction permit is pending. The lot is nearly 13km long between Blagoevgrad and Krupnik.

Struma Highway Blocked Near Blagoevgrad

A huge 5-km traffic jam has blocked the Struma highway near Blagoevgrad in another "epic journey" because of the four-day holiday, reported BGNES.

The exit of LOT-2 of the highway near Blagoevgrad is blocked and traffic from there continues along E-79 to the two border checkpoints with Greece and the resorts Bansko and Sandanski.

Bulgaria's Army, Police to Conduct Joint Border Drills on Saturday

The joint training "Border 2016", which will assess the readiness of Bulgaria's army and police to react in the event of a heightened migrant pressure, will be conducted on Saturday in the region of Petrich, Sandanski and Kulata.

This was announced by the interior and defence ministries on Friday.
