Saudi Arabian–led intervention in Yemen

At least 70 people were killed in an air strike on a prison as Yemen's long-running conflict suffered a dramatic escalation Friday that drew condemnation from UN chief Antonio Guterres.

A Saudi-led coalition launched several air strikes on the Houthi-held capital Sanaa, stoking tensions among Yemen's warring parties as the United Nations struggles to implement a peace deal reached last month.

A rebel drone hit Yemen's largest air base on Jan. 10, killing six loyalist soldiers during a military parade in an attack which raises questions over UN-led peace efforts.
