Police ban on headscarf with uniform is discrimination: Netherlands Human Rights Council
The police discriminated against a Muslim female officer by forbidding her to wear a headscarf when interacting with the public, the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights ruled on Nov. 20, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

Hungary’s Constitutional Court repeals ban on mosques
Hungary’s Constitutional Court has repealed a ban on the construction of mosques introduced by the village of Asotthalom, near the border with Serbia.
The court also overturned a ban headscarves "like burkas and chadors" worn by Muslim women, AP has reported.
Europe and the headscarf
Upon the European Court of Justice's March 14 ruling that companies can ban headscarves and other religious symbols in workplaces, Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş reacted and said, "This is a shameful decision. It is one of the many anti-Islam manifestations. This decision destroys European values all together."

Woman arrested after pulling off headscarf of student on public bus in Istanbul
A court in Istanbul on Feb. 14 arrested a woman on charges of "preventing freedom of belief" after a complaint was filed against her on accusations that she attacked a young woman on a public bus and tried to remove her headscarf.

Muslim hijab takes centre stage at NYC Fashion Week (photos)
Muslim fashion designer Anniesa Hasibuan made history, as the models presenting her fashion line on the runway at New York Fashion Week wore the traditional Islamic head cover known as hijab. The 28-year-old designer from Indonesia wrote on her instagram page after the show: ‘Muslims from all over the world and all you, beautiful people, thank you for your support’.
