Vucic: Serbia to double funds it is investing in CERN

GENEVA - Addressing the CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research) 70th anniversary ceremony in Geneva, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday Serbia would double the funds it was investing in CERN and called on all member states to increase the funds they were providing to the organisation.

COP28: US Announced International Fusion Plan

Special climate envoy and former US secretary of state John Kerry unveiled and announced the launch of an international plan to boost fusion, saying the emission-free technology could become a vital tool in the fight against climate change.

To begin with, the plan is supported by 35 nations and will focus on research and development, supply chain issues, regulation and safety.

Turkish student participates in CERN experiment

Erdem Yiğit Ertörer, a 26-year-old Turkish Ph.D. student in the U.S., has realized his childhood dream to work at CERN by qualifying to participate in the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment, one of the five major experiments conducted at CERN.

Doing his Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University, Ertörer is expected to spend about three years working on CERN's CMS experiment.

A car-sized object thought to be space junk

Authorities were investigating on July 18 whether a cylindrical object about the size of a small car that washed up on a remote Australian beach is space junk from a foreign rocket.

Police had cordoned off the barnacle-encrusted object after it was discovered at Green Head about 250 kilometers north of the city of Perth late on July 16.

Touring NASA exhibition opens in Istanbul

The NASA Space Adventure Exhibition, which has been visited by more than 4 million people in 12 countries in four years, is now open to visitors in Istanbul's Ataşehir district.

Established by HUPALUPA Expo on an area of 2,300 square meters in Metropol Istanbul Mall, the exhibition hosts more than 200 works, including life-size works that have witnessed NASA space missions.
