Seselj did not accept conditions, stays in detention

BELGRADE - Leader of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) Vojislav Seselj remains in detention, as the deadline expired for him to state whether he accepts the conditions set out by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) for his provisional release, which the Serbian government demanded for providing the guarantees, Belgrade-based attorney Toma Fila told Tanjug.

BELGRADE -- The Hague Tribunal has said they received no response from Vojislav Šešelj, who was on Friday given three days to accept the terms of his provisional release.

The Tanjug news agency reported on Tuesday that it learned from the court that no response had been received until that moment.

Russian State Duma calls for Seselj's release

BELGRADE - MP Vyacheslav Tetyokin of the Russian State Duma called for release of leader of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) Vojislav Seselj from his detention unit in The Hague, SRS released.

According to the release, at the initiative launched by communist MPs, Tetyokin sent a letter of encouragement to Seselj as one of the most famous political prisoners in Europe.

THE HAGUE - The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) has given Vojislav Seselj, who has been indicted by the Tribunal, a three-day deadline to declare in writing that he will comply with the conditions of a possible provisional release, the main condition being supervision by the Serbian authorities.

BELGRADE - Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic set up the Working group tasked with establishing the exact circumstances concerning the incidents in which the Embassies of the U.S. and Germany were burnt in Belgrade after the protest against the declaration of Kosovo-Metohija independence unilaterally declared by ethnic Albanians in the southern Serbian province in February 2008.
