BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has decided that the Serbian Armed Forces (VS) would participate in the Parade of Victors in Moscow on May 9, the Serbian Defense Ministry said in a release on Monday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the Northern Fleet, units of the airborne forces and the Western Military District on full combat alert from 08:00 Moscow time on Monday.

This was announced by Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu, who explained that these developments are part of snap checks, TASS news agency reports.

38,000 Russian soldiers take part in surprise drills

MOSCOW -- More than 38,000 Russian soldiers from the Northern Fleet and some airborne units on Monday started drills using 55 warships and submarines.

110 jets and helicopters are also taking part, it has been announced in Moscow.

Moscow on Nov. 12 denied it was ramping up its military presence in neighbouring Ukraine after NATO sounded the alarm over columns of Russian military equipment entering the ex-Soviet country over the past two days.

Russia launches military drills on border with Ukraine

BELGRADE -- Russia has decided to launch a military exercise on the border with Ukraine, in order to "deter Kiev from using violence against its own citizens."

Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu said on Thursday that Moscow was "forced to respond," RT reported.
