Coronavirus subvariants bypass immunity – New vaccines from October
Vacationers huddling on ships and aircraft for a visit to some Greek summer paradise will be exposed without any shield to the new subvariants of the virus.
Since the new sub-variants are evading vaccines and new vaccines are still delayed, it seems that the only protective measures against the coronavirus are masks, distances and hygiene rules.
Easter with caution and masks indoors
For the third year Greeks will celebrate Easter with care and personal protection measures, but closer to normal than the previous two years. SARS-CoV-2 is persistent and through its variants reminds us that it is still with us.

Vaccine effective against all variants of SARS-CoV-2 has been developed in Vienna
Preclinical data on the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine developed at MedUni Vienna show that it is effective against all known variants of SARS-CoV-2, including Omicron - even in individuals who have not yet developed immunity to SARS-CoV-2 as result of vaccination (unresponsive cases). The survey data was recently published in the leading journal Allergy.
New theory claims it was not China: "This is where it all started"
An early version of COVID-19, which seems to have been created in the laboratory, was discovered in samples from a Chinese biotechnology company, writes Sara Knapton, the Science Editor for The Daily Telegraph.
This finding justifies claims that the virus may have originated as a laboratory experiment that accidentally leaked.
The mysterious origin of Omicron
The advent and rapid prevalence of the Omicron strain demonstrates the potential of SARS-CoV-2 to evolve its ability to transmit and cause disease. What is particularly surprising, however, is that the origin of the Omicron strain does not appear to have originated from any of the dominant SARS-CoV-2 variants such as the Alpha, Beta, Gamma or Delta strains.

129 New Cases of Omicron were Identified in Bulgaria
Co-infection between influenza strain A (H3N2) and SARS-CoV-2 proved by National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (NCIPD)
129 cases of the viral variant Omicron of SARS-CoV-2 have been identified in Bulgaria after cell genomic sequencing performed by the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases.
Over 55% of Sequenced Samples in Bulgaria are from Omicron
234 clinical samples of coronavirus were analyzed by sequencing at the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases. Clinical samples were taken from patients with COVID-19 in the period 03-13.01.2022.
