Social exclusion

The National Union Block (BNS) is requesting the Government to return upon the decision of delaying the growth of children's' allowance, foreseen to take place on July 1, 2021 and to show availability for consulting social partners regarding the identification of a package of measures to combating poverty among children.

One in two children is subjected to some form of abuse and one in three is at risk of poverty and social exclusion, the Save the Children Association said in a release today.

Every third Bulgarian lives at risk of poverty or social exclusion, Eurostat data for poverty level in the Member States in 2018 showed. About 2.3 million people in the country live below the poverty line, which in Bulgaria is officially BGN 350 per month.

About one in every three Greeks runs the risk of poverty or social exclusion, a rate that keeps Greece on a par with Bulgaria and Romania and far below countries such as Finland and the Czech Republic in the European Union.
