Today we celebrate World Animal Day. It is celebrated on St. Francis Day, the patron saint of animals and the environment.
The decision to mark the World Animal Day today was taken in 1931 at the International Congress of Proponents of the Movement for Nature Conservation in Florence, Italy.

Twitter embraces National Hugging Day with social media hugfest
The world wide web embraces Hugging Day on January 21. The annual hugfest was created by Kevin Zaborney from Michigan in 1986 to encourage everyone to hug each other more often. The idea caught on and, Greece, too, joined in the hugs.
Women's Health Coalition awards Turkish activist
P?nar ?lkkaracan, a leading women's rights activist and researcher based in Turkey, was awarded the prestigious Joan B.
