British pop phenom Ed Sheeran expressed joy and relief Thursday after a US jury found he did not plagiarize Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" in composing his hit "Thinking Out Loud," calling the ruling a win for creative freedom.
The English musician hugged his team inside a Manhattan federal courtroom after jurors ruled that he had "independently" created his 2014 song.

Sells like teen spirit? Cobain guitar up for auction
A guitar smashed on stage by Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain is going under the hammer later this month in the United States.
The guitar has been put back together, but is no longer playable, said Kody Frederick of Julien's Auctions, which expects the musical artifact to fetch $80,000.
Aerosmith announces farewell tour starting in September
Aerosmith will be touring a city near you for the last time to celebrate the rock band's 50-plus years together.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band announced on May 1 the dates for their farewell tour called "Peace Out" starting Sept. 2 in Philadelphia. The 40-date run of shows, which includes a stop in the band's hometown of Boston on New Year's Eve, will end Jan. 26 in Montreal.
Katy Perry loses trademark battle
Singer Katy Perry has lost a trademark battle with an Australian fashion designer called Katie Perry.
Katie Taylor, who sells clothes under her birth name Katie Perry, sued the pop star, saying her merchandise infringed a trademark she owned.
On April 28, a judge agreed that clothing sold for Katy's 2014 Australian tour did breach Katie's trademark.

Whatever the outcome of the Greek general elections in May, the next day will be difficult - primarily for the economy and despite the current euphoria. As the governor of the Bank of Greece, Yannis Stournaras, said in a television interview on April 10, "the next government will face a more difficult macroeconomic environment than the previous one."

Musician vows to play trombone in Kiev ‘until we win’
Every morning, Valentyn Dudkin picks up his trombone, an instrument he hadn't touched in 30 years, to play Ukraine's national anthem in the courtyard of his apartment building in Kiev.
The 80-year-old retired orchestra director dusted off his musical instrument after Russian leader Vladimir Putin sent troops into Ukraine a year ago.
