Nearshore trench works for the TurkStream natural gas pipeline project started on July 22 near Turkey's northwestern town of Kıyıköy, the South Stream Transport B.V. Company that is conducting the offshore pipeline said on July 23.

After President Rumen Radev paved the way towards improved Bulgarian-Russian relations last week, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov will follow up by visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 30.

Russian energy giant "Gazprom" announced that it has signed a protocol with the Turkish government to build a road section of the gas pipeline "Turkish Stream".

The signed protocol is the basis for the beginning of the construction of a land section of the gas pipeline on Turkish territory, according to BGS.

Bulgaria is creating a natural gas hub at its Black Sea coast.

The Bulgarian energy ministry says the state-owned company Bulgartransgaz signed a 1.2 million-euro ($1.5 million) contract Thursday with a Bulgarian-Swiss consortium for a feasibility study. The European Union has pledged to provide 920,000 euros ($1.13 million) for the project.

Amendments to an agreement on gas imports from Russia to Serbia, which Serbia's parliament is expected to confirm, should enable Belgrade to sell Russian gas to other countries.

Bulgaria's gas transmission system operator Bulgartransgaz said it is planning to acquire 28 properties owned by South Stream Bulgaria, a 50/50 joint venture set up by Russia's Gazprom and state-owned Bulgarian Energy Holding.

The properties have a total estimated value of 13.2 million levs ($8.3 million/6.7 million euro), Bulgartransgaz said in a notice on Tuesday.

Antic was responding journalists when he said that this will not affect our country, because of the contract it has with Gazprom, that includes "three points for the delivery of gas to Serbia."

Pioneering Spirit has begun installing the first line of the TurkStream gas pipeline in the Black Sea area near the border of the Bulgarian Exclusive Economic Zone, the project company said in a statement on Feb. 19. 

Gazprom raised the cost of the Turkish stream project from 6 to 7 billion euros, the Bulgarian National Radio reported.

MOSCOW - The Gazprom board of directors will at a February 13 meeting consider the option to purchase an additional stake in the South Stream Serbia company, the Russian energy giant announced on Monday.

According to the Russian news agency Tass, one of the items on the agenda is "purchase of additional shares of South Stream Serbia by Gazprom."
