Fake email attributed to police director circulated
BELGRADE -- The Serbian police director, Milorad Veljovic, on Monday denied that he had sent "an open letter" criticizing Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic.
Veljovic also announced that he will ask the authorities to urgently investigate who sent the email containing the letter, "and to what end."

Dozens of holidaymakers in Turkey have been victimized by scam hotel websites created by a fraudulent online travel platform, which is accused of conning customers out of thousands of Turkish Liras with fake reservations.

Mobile phone message promising big win a scam, warns police
Mobile phone users in Greece were advised on Friday to ignore a text message claiming they have won 850,000 pounds sterling.
The polices Cyber Crime unit said that a message reading Your mobile number has won 850,000 British pounds in the ongoing Samsung promo. Visit and click on prize at the top of the menu. Your Samsung: 10965 was fake.

Bulgaria ranks as the country receiving the biggest amount of spam per person in Q2, 2014, according to UK-based software security company Sophos.
The US sent the largest amount of spam in the second quarter of 2014, at 24% of the total, according to the survey.

Facebook has thanked Greek Police for its help in taking down a little-known spamming botnet called Lecpetext.
We would like to thank the Head of the Greek Cyber Crime Division and the police officers involved for the professionalism they showed while investigating this malware, the California-based company said in a statement posted on its website.
Greek police crack lottery scam targeting Germans
Greek police said Wednesday they are on the trail of two men accused of running a massive lottery scam that tricked some 360,00 people, mostly Germans, into paying around 36 million euros into phony draws over the course of four years.
The two suspects, whose names have not been released, are German citizens of Greek descent and are known to be in Athens, Kathimerini understands.
