Greek athletes win gold, silver in Berlin

Greece's Katerina Stefanidi celebrates after a successful attempt in the women's pole vault final at the European Athletics Championships at the Olympic stadium in Berlin, late Thursday. The 28-year-old added another gold medal to her big-event collection. She wrapped up her latest victory with a third-time clearance at 4.85 meters. Nikoleta Kyriakopoulou, 32, won silver with a 4.80 m jump.

Stefanidi wins Athens Street Pole Vault event

Olympic champion Katerina Stefanidi won the 6th Athens Street Pole Vault on Friday, held at Syntagma Square in central Athens, clearing 4.80 meters.

This performance was her best for the season so far, as she had only managed 4.64 m. until Friday.

Stefanidi, also the world champion, tried to break her own national record of 4.91 m. but failed three times to clear 4.92 m.

Mirela Demireva made a Historic Jump in Stockholm

Bulgarian Mirela Demireva finished second in the discipline of high jump of the race from the Diamond Athletics League in Stockholm (Sweden), reports Gong.bg.
 
Olympic vice-champion of the Rio 2016 Demireva finished at 200 centimeters, with her third attempt, and for the first time in her career she overcame the master border.
