Ivelin Popov Becomes Best Bulgarian Footballer of 2015

The player of Spartak Moscow Ivelin Popov was awarded the best Bulgarian footballer of the year prize on Saturday.

Popov garnered 241 points, leaving behind him Palermo midfielder Ivaylo Chochev and CSKA Moscow midfielder Georgi Milanov.

Bulgarian Sports Minister Krasen Kralev handed the award to the captain of the Bulgarian men's national football team.

Bulgarian men's team defeated The Netherlands 3:2 in their last Group A qualifier of the 29th edition of the European Volleyball Championship in Sofia on Sunday.

The Bulgarian team snatched the victory, winning the tie-break 17:15 after nearly three hours of play.

National Coach Lyuboslav Penev Takes Charge of Botev Plovdiv

Bulgaria's national football team coach Lyuboslav Penev will also lead top league club Botev Plovdiv from next season.

On Friday, the Bulgarian Football Union announced that it will allow Penev to combine the two jobs. The BFU President Borislav Mihaylov discussed the matter with the Executive Committee of the union and they agreed to give Penev the green light.
