Turkish Cargo becomes Europe’s top air cargo firm
Turkish Cargo, the rising logistics brand of Turkish Airlines, has ranked first in Europe and fourth in the world among air cargo companies with its total transportation performance, according to the World Air Transport Statistics published annually by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Lufthansa, union reach pay deal for ground staff
Lufthansa and a union representing its ground staff in Germany reached a deal on Aug.4 to end a pay dispute, a week after a one-day strike that forced the airline to cancel more than 1,000 flights.

THY, Trendyol sign cooperation deal
Türkiye's flag carrier Turkish Airlines (THY) and Turkish e-commerce platform Trendyol have signed a cooperation deal enabling THY passengers to convert their miles earned from flight and credit card spending into gift tokens that can be used on Trendyol.

Lufthansa cancels another 2,000 summer flights
German national carrier Lufthansa said Wednesday it was scrapping another 2,000 flights this summer because of staff shortages, adding to a chaotic travel season as the industry attempts to bounce back from the pandemic.
The cancellations between now and the end of August will affect Lufthansa's hubs in Munich and Frankfurt, a company spokesman told AFP.

Turkish Airlines carries 31 mln passengers in six months
Turkish Airlines carried 30.9 million passengers in the first half of 2022, the company said in a statement.
In the same period of 2019, before the pandemic hit the global travel and tourism industries, the flag carrier served more than 35 million travelers.

The service was relaunched on July 1, featuring six different tours each day, seven days per week.

THY targets double-digit growth this year, says executive
Turkish Airlines (THY) aims to achieve double-digit growth rates this year and in 2023, the chairman of the company's board and the executive committee has said.
"We are working hard to meet strong demand for domestic and international flights," Ahmet Bolat told reporters on a flight that marked the launch of the flag carrier's flights to Seattle.
Turkish Airlines posts $161 million profit in first quarter
Turkish Airlines swung a net income of $161 million in the first quarter of 2022 from a net loss of $229 million in January-March 2019.
Total revenues of the flag carrier grew more than 10 percent in the first three months of this year compared to the first quarter of 2019 to reach $3.05 billion.
United Airlines loses $1.4 bln in first quarter
United Airlines reported on April 20 that it lost $1.38 billion in the first quarter of 2022 but said it expects to return to profitability in the current three-month period as post-pandemic travel ramps back up.
The Chicago-based airline posted revenue of $7.67 billion in the quarter that ended March 31. That was down 21 percent from the first quarter of 2019.
