Underserved European cities convince Aegean to invest in Volotea
Approximately two thirds (65%) of the population of the European Union live in small and medium-sized cities with nonexistent or limited air connections.
At the same time, 800 out of 1,200 small and medium-sized cities - with a population up to 2 million people each - are not served by an airplane.
Turkish Airlines carries 49 million passengers in 7 months
The number of passengers Turkish Airlines carried increased by 3.5 percent year-on-year in January-July to 48.94 million.
The international passenger tally was up 3.6 percent in the first seven months of 2024 from a year ago, reaching 30.9 million. Domestic passengers grew by 3.4 percent to more than 18 million.

Turkish Cargo aims to boost its revenues to $10 billion by 2033, Ali Türk, chief cargo officer at Turkish Airlines has said.
Turkish Cargo, flag carrier Turkish Airlines' cargo brand, increased its share of global market in the first half of 2024 to 5.8 percent, while its share hit an all-time high of 6 percent in May this year, according to Türk.

Aegean Airlines suspends flights to Tel Aviv, Beirut
Aegean Airlines has suspended all flights to and from Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport until Tuesday due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The airline has also canceled flights to and from Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport until Thursday.

THY secures yuan financing for new aircraft
Turkish Airlines (THY) has become the first airline outside the People's Republic of China to finance aircraft with Chinese yuan.
According to a statement from the company, three Airbus A350 aircraft, which joined THY's fleet in May and July, were financed in Chinese Yuan through AVIC International Leasing and CCB Financial Leasing.
