Athens Metro extends service hours to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays

Starting this Friday, Athens Metro Lines 2 and 3 will operate until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

According to an announcement from STASY, the organization that manages the capital's metro system, the last trains will depart from the central Syntagma station at 2 a.m., providing service in all directions.

Syntagma metro station reopens after ‘Ochi Day’ parade

Athens' central Syntagma metro station reopened on Monday after a temporary closure for a school parade commemorating the October 28 national holiday, known as "Ochi Day," train operator STASY announced.

The station had been closed in the morning by police order, with trains bypassing it to ensure crowd safety during the national celebration.

ISAP trains evacuated after fire

Two Athens metro trains were evacuated after a fire broke out near Neratziotissa station in northern Attica on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire brigade was alerted at around 5 p.m. due to heavy smoke from the fire. The two trains on Line 1 (ISAP), heading toward the northern suburb of Kifissia, were stopped and evacuated, with passengers walking along the tracks to Irini station.

Tram line section in southern Athens returns to service on July 1

Tram service in the section between Asklipio Voulas and Zefyros in southern Athens will resume on July 1 after four months, the Athens Urban Rail Transport Company (STASY) said on Friday.  

The service had been suspended since March 10 due to construction work at the former airport at Elliniko to bring part of coastal Poseidonos Avenue underground.
