Sweeping changes are being planned for SYRIZA Progressive Alliance by the party’s President, Stefanos Kasselakis, who is currently revealing his plans during a meeting of the party’s Statutory Committee.

According to sources, Kasselakis proposed changes that include renaming the party.

He proposes the name “Coalition of Modern Left”.

A Series of Incompatibilities

Lawmaker Pavlos Polakis expressed his indignation over a sudden decision by SYRIZA leader Stefanos Kasselakis to reinstate him in the party's parliamentary group on Tuesday, saying he was not consulted on the matter.

Lawmaker Pavlos Polakis on Tuesday was readmitted to the leftist main opposition party's parliamentary group, less than six weeks after he was expelled by SYRIZA leader Stefanos Kasselakis following an incident in parliament.

The news was announced by the parliamentary group's new head, Nikos Pappas, following a recommendation by Kasselakis, in a letter to the House Speaker. 

Today’s decision by SYRIZA’s Ethics Committee about former Minister Christos Spirtzis is considered pivotal for the upcoming Central Committee meeting this weekend and the future of the main opposition. Spirtzis sent a letter asking for more information about the charges against him, and the atmosphere within SYRIZA is tense.

According to reports, Polakis is “determined to file a motion of no confidence and announce his candidacy.” In a late-night post, Polakis emphasized the need for “radical changes in SYRIZA’s leadership” and for “effective opposition.”

The four-day wedding celebrations of Stefanos Kasselakis and Tyler Macbeth have come to a close in Agia Marina.

At noon on Saturday, they welcomed his 130 guests to a well-known seaside venue for lunch and a party on the beautiful beach overlooking the Thodoros islet and the Gulf of Chania, according to zarpanews.

Christos Spirtzis, in his letter to the SYRIZA-PS Ethics Committee, refers to the party’s ethics regulations, specifically to the second part of the Code of Conduct, which outlines the rules regarding complaints to the committee. According to the regulations, any complaint must be written and signed, with the details of the case and evidence provided, such as documents or witness lists.

SYRIZA leader Stefanos Kasselakis and his partner, Tyler McBeth, married at the Hania Botanical Garden on Friday evening under tight security.

A police patrol blocked access to uninvited guests. Two people were detained for attempting to capture aerial footage with a drone. Authorities used a drone detection system and required guests to surrender their phones. 

Stefanos Kasselakis and Tyler Macbeth got married on the terrace of the Botanical Garden of Chania shortly after 6:00 PM.

At 6:00 PM on Friday, the couple arrived at the ceremony site under strict security measures, while their guests had started arriving a bit earlier.
