In a special action, the The General Directorate Combating Organized Crime and the police from Veliko Tarnovo broke up a drug lab for the production of amphetamines in Tarnovo, the Ministry of Interior announced.

Kindergarten teacher among detainees in drug gang bust in Istanbul
A female suspect (30), who was among five detained in a police operation against a drug gang on Aug. 24, has been determined to be a kindergarten teacher at a private school.
The suspect had been undertaking in courier services for the drug gang, according to police records.

212 kilograms cocaine seized from ship in Istanbul
A total of 212 kilograms of cocaine were seized from a ship which was anchored in a harbor in Istanbul on June 13, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
Anti-drug police conducted the search on a ship which was anchored in Ambarlı Harbor in Istanbul's Avcılar district following a tipoff.

Greek students drink more than other EU countries, report says (read full report)
Greek student consumer more alcohol than their European peers, according to a report released by The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), Tuesday. The report, presented in conjunction with the European Commission in Brussels, focused on at the latest trends in drug supply and use in the EU. Over one million seizures of illicit drugs are reported annually in Europe.

Cannabis is by far the most commonly used drug worldwide, according to the latest Global Drug Survey (GDS). Cocaine and MDMA are used to a far lesser extend in comparison. The figures used here do not consider alcohol, tobacco or caffeine, which of course are also heavily used. Also, the GDS seeks out younger respondents more involved in drug use.

Greek agencies release footage of raid on drug ring sending pills to Islamic State jihadists (photos-videos)
The Greek financial crime unit (SDOE) released video footage and photos of Greek enforcement agencies raiding a compound in the area of Loutropyrgos, located 30km northwest of Athens, where they confiscated 635,000 amphetamine based pills planned to be shipped to Islamic State fighters in Syria and Iraq.
Drugs found in laboratory near Athens 'destined for Middle East'
Large quantities of the synthetic drug fenethylline which were found in a makeshift laboratory near Elefsina, west of Athens, last week, had been destined to be smuggled to the Middle East, it emerged on Monday.
Also known by its brand name, Captagon, the stimulant is believed to be widely used for recreational purposes in the Middle East and by fighters in Syria to keep them alert.
