Police uncover ring producing synthetic drug used by combatants in Syria

The financial crimes unit (SDOE) announced on Friday that it had discovered a lab producing large quantities of fenethylline, a synthetic drug reported to be widely used for recreational purposes in the Middle East as well as by fighters in Syria to boost their courage on the battlefield, where it is known by the brand name Captagon.

Bulgaria Police Detain Jordan, Syria Nationals in Amphetamine Bust

Bulgarian police have seized 108 kg of amphetamine and arrested nine people, including two Jordanians and a Syrian national, suspected of involvement in illicit drugs trade.

The other six of the detained are Bulgarian citizens, some of them have criminal records, according to a statement released by the Ministry of the Interior on Friday.

1.7 mln amphetamine tablets seized in southern Turkey

Nearly 1.7 million drug tablets known for their use by fighters in Syria have been seized in Turkey's southern province of Hatay.

Hatay Police Department Trafficking and Organized Crimes Unit officers seized 1.68 million tablets of fenethylline hydrochloride, a drug compound publicly known as "captagon," after searching a truck in Hatay's ?skenderun district on Dec. 22.

Record seizure of Captagon amphetamine tablets in southern Turkey

Turkish police seized a huge shipment of amphetamine tablets near the border with Syria on the night of Nov. 19.

The operation seized a record amount of 1,800 kilograms of the drug Captagon in Hatay, Turkey's southernmost province that borders northwest Syria. The seized shipment of 11 million tablets is thought to have been bound for the Gulf.

Saudi prince held in record Beirut airport drug bust: security source

A Saudi prince and four others were detained on Oct. 26 in Lebanon in the largest drug bust in the history of the Beirut airport, a security source said.

Saudi prince Abdel Mohsen Bin Walid Bin Abdulaziz and four others were detained by airport security while allegedly "attempting to smuggle about two tons of Captagon pills and some cocaine," a security source told AFP.    

Bulgarian Customs Seize 2.7 kg Cocaine from Venezuelan Citizen

Bulgarian customs officers have seized 2.7 kg of cocaine at Sofia International Airport being smuggled by a female citizen of Venezuela, the National Customs Agency (NCA) announced on Thursday.

The drug was discovered in the luggage of the traveller who had arrived on a flight from Brazil via Doha, Qatar.
