Strategic autonomy

Europe urgently needs leadership. It has leaders but they cannot pull the European Union in the direction of progress. Italy's Giorgia Meloni can't do it, nor can various leaders in the north who want to push events to the extremes vis-a-vis Russia. 

The European Union has not yet done enough to boost its own arms production capacities in light of geopolitical threats, in particular Russia's war on Ukraine, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday.

Development Minister Kostas Skrekas said the reindustrialization of the country is a priority for the government during his visit on Friday to the Aluminium of Greece factory in Viotia.

In his statement, the Prime Minister stressed that the debate on how Europe can ensure its strategic autonomy in practice is back on the table
