Stray Cats

A "cat massacre" has been going on in Istanbul, with 45 stray cats found dead in Kadıköy district and three newborn kittens brutally murdered in Esenyurt district.

On March 16 in the Fenerbahçe neighborhood of Kadıköy district of Istanbul, a resident noticed that the cat they were feeding on the street was looking ill.

Given that stray cats and dogs are finding it increasingly difficult to find food owing to the restriction on people's movements, the Municipality of Thessaloniki in northern Greece has launched a campaign with the help of volunteers to ensure that most of them are fed daily. 

The endeavor is sponsored by two companies that have provided food for dogs and cats.

Nine Lives Greece, a volunteer organization that helps stray cats in Athens through feeding, vet care, neutering and adoption, will be holding its Autumn Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 13.
