Delivery workers and couriers make their demands felt

Food delivery and courier workers take to the streets of Athens on their way to the Labor Ministry during Thursday's 24-hour strike to demand better working conditions. Strikers are calling on employers to provide scooters to workers, who are not only obliged to use their own vehicles but also, frequently, to pay for gas and cover their own insurance.

Hospital workers to stage work stoppage in Attica on March 28

The union of Greek hospital workers, POEDIN, on Tuesday announced a four-hour work stoppage in Attica for March 28.
The action is scheduled to start at 8 a.m., and is expected to affect services at the region's public hospitals.
Strikers will also be gathering for a protest rally outside the Labour Ministry in downtown Athens at 8.30 a.m.

POE-OTA local worker union calls strike for Thursday, demanding benefits

The union representing local authority workers, POE-OTA, has called a 24-hour strike for Thursday, February 21, to demand that staff working hazardous jobs get paid a corresponding bonus.

Workers have been called upon to join a protest rally outside the Finance Ministry at 11 a.m. on Thursday to press their demands.

Striking Greek state school teachers march through Athens

Hundreds of striking Greek civil servants, mostly school teachers, are marching through central Athens to protest proposed new hiring criteria for state school teachers.

The left-wing Greek government has promised to hire 15,000 full-time teachers over the next three years, starting this fall.
