Professionals in Corinthia to stage toll rate protest on Sunday
Unions representing various professional sectors in the Corinthia region in the northern Peloponnese will be staging a protest rally at the Corinth Canal toll station at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Cephalonia residents to receive more than 6 mln euros in damages, insurers say
More than 6 million euros will be distributed to the residents of Cephalonia, the Ionian island that suffered significant damage in a large earthquake in January, the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies (HAIC) said on Friday.
Two arrested on human-trafficking charges
Two Turkish nationals, aged 37 and 45, were expected to face a prosecutor after being arrested late on Tuesday in connection to an alleged human trafficking ring after police discovered a group of 56 undocumented immigrants, mostly Syrian nationals, in two lorries they were driving. The arrests were made at the port of Igoumenitsa in western Greece.

Moderate quake rattles island of Cephalonia
A moderate quake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale rattled Cephalonia on Tuesday morning as the Ionian Sea island continues efforts to recover from a large tremor in January that caused significant damage to homes, businesses and infrastructure.

Trainose cargo services head for Orestiada and Belgrade

Trainose is set to expand its cargo services even further following the success of its Athens-Thessaloniki route by launching a second daily service on that line and planning routes to Skopje and Belgrade twice a week.
Man arrested over unregistered antiquities
A 48-year-man was arrested on Saturday in Elassona in Larissa, central Greece, over charges of possessing unregistered antiquities.
The suspect was detained after officers discovered three Roman bronze coins at his residence.
They also found a gas pistol and a small amount of cannabis.

Turkish jets fly over Fournoi islands
Six Turkish fighter jets flew over Fournoi islands in the northern Aegean without permission on Friday morning, Greek military authorities said.
The planes entered Greek air space between Samos and Chios at 11 a.m. and exited at 11.29 a.m., according to the National Defense General Staff (GEETHA).

Georgian man shot in Piraeus
A 47-year-old Georgian national sustained injuries after being shot by unknown assailants late on Monday in the district of Nikaia in Piraeus.
The victim was transferred to a local hospital, while a police investigation was underway to determine the motive behind the attack.
