Bulgaria's Audit Office Finds Illegal Bill 'Cross-Subsidies'

Illegal cross-subsidies are being practiced between heating and electricity bills in Bulgaria, the National Audit Office has stated in its latest report.

The main auditing body has also found out "no adequate control" is being applied in the electricity and natural gas sectors, according to the website Investor.bg.

Bulgarian Railway Infrastructure Employees Set for a Protest

Employees of Bulgaria's National Railway Infrastructure Company are taking to the streets for a silent protest on Tuesday, demanding higher salaries.

They also want to express their support for colleagues bargaining over a new collective agreements on working terms, according to Bulgaria's NOVA TV.

Power rate hike for many users


The cost of electricity appears set to increase for low household consumption (of up to 800 kilowatt-hours per four months) and decline for low- and medium-voltage commercial consumers through the termination of so-called cross-subsidies, demanded by the country’s creditors through the revised bailout agreement.
