Tanya Raykovska Elected Interim Chair of Bulgaria’s Supreme Court of Cassation

Bulgaria's Supreme Judicial Council (VSS) has elected Tanya Raykovska interim Chair of the Supreme Court of Cassation (VKS).

Thursday is the last day in office of the incumbent, Lazar Gruev, and a new VKS Chair is to be elected on January 29, 2015.

During its Thursday sitting, VSS launched the procedure for the election of a successor of Gruev.

Bulgaria’s Supreme Judicial Council Fails to Elect Military Appellate Court Chair

Bulgaria's Supreme Judicial Council (VSS) has failed to elect a Chair of the Military Appellate Court.

There were two candidates for the post, including Svilen Aleksandrov, Chair of the Sofia Military Court, and Dimitar Fikiin, judge at the Military Appellate Court.

None of the two candidates received the necessary 13 votes to win the post.

Procedure for Election of Supreme Court of Cassation Chair Kicks Off

The Supreme Judicial Council (VSS) opened Thursday a procedure for the election of a Chair of the Supreme Court of Cassation (VKS).

The name of only one candidate is certain so far, namely judge Pavlina Panova, according to reports of mediapool.bg.

Panova is Deputy Chair of VKS and Chair of the Criminal Section of VKS.
