Pregnant Syrian woman, baby brutally murdered in Turkey laid to rest in Syria's Idlib

A pregnant Syrian woman and a baby who were brutally murdered in Turkey's northwest were laid to rest in Syria's Idlib on July 9. 

Nine month pregnant Emani el-Rahmun, 20, was raped and killed with her 10-month-old son Halaf el-Rahmun in Sakarya's Kaynarca district on July 6, causing outrage across Turkey. 

EU delegation head praises Turkey for hosting refugees

The head of the EU delegation to Turkey praised Turkey for caring for millions of Syrian refugees, during a concert in Ankara held to commemorate World Refugee Day on June 20. 

"Both the Turkish government and Turkish citizens have done a good job in hosting the Syrian refugees," Christian Berger said at the Modern Arts Center.

Municipality removes Arabic signs to 'remove visual pollution' in Turkey's south

A municipality in southern Turkey has decided to remove all signs written in Arabic in order to "remove visual pollution," according to its official Twitter account. 

The municipality of Hatay province shared photos of officials removing Arabic signs from several shops on May 21. 

Units intercept over 1,000 migrants on Turkish borders

Over 1,000 people were intercepted by Turkish forces trying to enter the country illegally from Syria on May 14, the military stated on May 15.        

Just under 1,090 people were found by Turkish forces' border units, the General Staff stated, without saying whether the influx was at a particular point or along Turkey's lengthy southern border with Syria.        

Gülenist prosecutor informed about bomb attack, didn't take action: Report

One of the prosecutors in a controversial case into trucks belonging to the National Intelligence Agency (MİT) case, who was later arrested for alleged links to the network of Fethullah Gülen, was aware of a deadly bombing in the southern province of Hatay, but did not take action to put pressure on the intelligence, according to a report.
