US, Russia agree on ceasefire in southwest Syria

Russia and the United States have agreed to a ceasefire in southwest Syria starting from midday on July 9, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced on July 7.

"Today in Amman Russian, American and Jordanian experts... agreed on a memorandum of understanding to create a de-escalation zone" in the regions of Daraa, Quneitra and Sweida, Lavrov said.

New round of Syria peace talks opens in Astana without rebels

A third round of Russian and Turkey-backed talks on the Syrian war opened in the Kazakh capital Astana on March 14 without armed rebel groups, leaving little hope for a breakthrough in ending the six-year conflict.
  
The talks, sponsored by regime allies Russia and Iran and rebel-backer Turkey, come as other diplomatic efforts to end the bloodshed have proved fruitless.  

Syria conflict: Turkey and Russia ‘agree ceasefire plan’

Turkey and Russia have agreed on the terms of a proposed ceasefire in Syria, where they back opposing sides in the civil war, Turkish state media report.
The Anadolu news agency cited an unnamed source as saying the two states were working to ensure the ceasefire would start after midnight (22:00 GMT).

Putin, Erdoğan agree to hold Syria peace talks in Astana

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Dec. 16 that he had agreed with Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan to hold peace talks on Syria in the Kazakhstan capital Astana.

Speaking at a news conference during a visit to Japan, Putin also said Russia would now be pursuing talks on a "nationwide" ceasefire in Syria.
