The European Union will launch measures on July 19 designed to prevent a surge of steel imports into the bloc following the U.S. imposition of tariffs on incoming steel and aluminum, the EU's official journal said.

Switzerland has joined a string of countries launching challenges to Washington's new steel and aluminum tariffs at the World Trade Organization, Bern said on July 10.

 The U.S. Chamber of Commerce on July 2 denounced President Donald Trump's handling of a global trade dispute, issuing a report that argued the tariffs imposed by Washington and retaliation by its partners would boomerang badly on the American economy.

The European Union is introducing customs duties on a number of American products from tomorrow, Nova TV reported. Fees are 25% and will affect commodities such as bourbon, jeans and motorcycles.

The decision is in response to Donald Trump's import duties on European steel and aluminum.

The European Union will begin charging import duties of 25 percent on a range of U.S. products on June 22, in response to U.S. tariffs imposed on EU steel and aluminum early this month, the European Commission said on June 20.

U.S. trade groups and some large companies such as Boeing said on June 15 they were beginning to evaluate how new tariffs in the U.S.-China trade spat could affect their operations.

NEW DELHI: India will raise duties on 30 products originating in the US, including motorcycles with engine capacity over 800 cc, fresh apples and almonds, as it strikes back against Washington's move to impose higher duties on Indian steel and aluminium exports, an official said.

Turkey will open anti-dumping investigations into U.S. companies in the wake of new U.S. import tariffs on steel and aluminum in a retaliatory move, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci has said.

Turkey is set to take measures against the United States over its decision to impose tariffs on Turkish steel and aluminum imports by June 21.

The American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce expressed on Friday objection to the recent US government's decision to impose tariffs on steel and aluminium imports from the European Union.

The chamber said it supports and joins other American-European chambers which oppose the US government's decision, and called on the U. government to re-examine the issue.
