Uber Arrives to Mixed Fanfare in Romania
Joy and dismay greeted the arrival on Wednesday in Romania of the increasingly popular car-sharing service UberX, which aims to provide alternative and cheap transportation services.
UberX, a smartphone application that connects passengers to car drivers willing to provide transport services for a small fee, was launched in Bucharest.

Two dead following heavy rain in Thessaloniki, Kilkis
The bodies of two men were retrieved by members of rescue teams in Thessaloniki and Kiklis, northern Greece, following heavy rainfall in the area, raising the number of dead to four since last Saturday.

Uber Carhire Mobile App Launches Operations in Sofia
Uber, the mobile app for ride sharing and car hiring has launched operations in Sofia.
According to the official information, the fare per kilometre is BGN 0.4 - about half as cheap as the fares of the regular taxi companies. The initial fee is BGN 0.7, the fee for one minute of stay is BGN 0.2. The cancellation fee is BGN 3. The minimum fare is also BGN 3.
Cabbie who carried shooter claims he was threatened

Trained Taxi Drivers to Help Paramedics in Bulgaria’s Sofia
The first team of taxi drivers paramedics will cruise the streets of Bulgaria’s capital city of Sofia as of September 1, Monday.
So far, the program includes 15 fully equipped vehicles which can be used for the provision of medical assistance in case of car crashes and other accidents, Bulgarian National Radio informed.
