Turkey resumes int’l flights after ending almost three-month ban

Turkey restarted international flights on June 11 for the first time after an almost three-month ban imposed to stem the coronavirus pandemic.

As part of the new "normalization" phase, Ankara resumed domestic flights as of June 1, which have been followed by international flights.

Lufthansa and Air France Halt Flights to Iran and Iraq

German airline giant Lufthansa said it has canceled flights to Iran and Iraq "until further notice" after Tehran fired missiles at US bases in Iraq, according to BGNES.

The daily Frankfurt-Tehran flight has been canceled. Saturday's twice-weekly service to northern Iraqi city Erbil would also not depart.

The first Turkish Airlines Flight From Istanbul Airport

The first Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul Airport, the new home of the airline, is up to Ankara, just like it was 86 years ago.

Just like the first flight of the carrier 86 years ago, the final destination and this is the Turkish capital. With 172 passengers and 8-member cabin crew aboard, the plane took off at 2:00 pm from Istanbul Airport to Ankara Esenboga Airport.

Turkish Airlines to transfer operations to Istanbul’s new airport ‘within 18 hours’

Turkish Airlines is set to transfer operations from Atatürk Airport to Istanbul’s currently under-construction third airport with 600 trucks within the first 18 hours of the new airport opening, the company’s General Manager Bilal Ekşi has announced.
