A Moscow-bound Turkish Airlines flight that took off from Istanbul on Jan. 29 is returning to Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport due to a loss of cabin pressure. 

Istanbul's Atatürk Airport has overtaken Frankfurt Airport to enter the top three busiest airports in Europe, Bloomberg has reported, based on 2015 passenger numbers. 

The shift came as Turkish Airlines continued its rapid expansion and strikes at Deutsche Lufthansa AG hurt the German hub.

Istanbul?s Atatürk Airport was declared the airport with the most new long-haul routes at the Euro Annies 2015 Awards, the airport?s operator, TAV Airports, said in a written statement on Sept. 15. 

Gazipa?a-Alanya Airport in Antalya was also selected the fastest growing airport in its category.

Atatürk Airport in Istanbul broke its air traffic record on May 14 when a total of 1,375 planes took off and landed.

Do?an News Agency reported on May 16 that the latest record came as the efforts to expand Atatürk Airport continued.

A civilian airliner crashed on take-off in a residential area near Tehran’s Mehrabad airport on August 10, Iranian news agencies said, with reports that almost 50 people were killed.

The plane was headed to the eastern city of Tabas, the IRNA and Fars news agencies said, and crashed at 9.18 am (0448 GMT).
