Turkey: New Navtex in the Eastern Mediterranean in an area it calls “Turkish continental shelf”

The Turkey to systematically challenge Greek sovereign rights in the Eastern Mediterranean on the occasion of the work of the Italian research vessel C/S TELIRI by issuing a new NAVTEX in an area it calls “Turkish continental shelf” and which overlaps the Greek continental shelf south of Rhodes and Kastelorizo and southeast of Crete.

Ankara widens Greek-Turkish agenda

There are no agreed maritime borders at the mouth of the Evros River in northeastern Greece, according to a navigation notice (Navtex) issued by the Izmir Hydrographic Service Station in Turkey in response to a Greek Navtex reserving an area of the estuary, within Greek territorial waters, until June 22 for scientific research by the R/V Alkyon vessel. 

Foreign Ministry sends note verbale over recent Turkish Navtex

The Foreign Ministry has sent a note verbale to the Turkish government regarding two recent navigational telexes (Navtex) that Ankara issued reserving a large area in the Aegean for aeronautical exercises and linking Greece's sovereignty over a number of islands to their demilitarization.
