The Turkish unit of Toyota Motor Corp saw first-half exports slump by 30 percent to 42,433 units after a weaker ruble hit Russia?s car market, but it hopes to pare losses with sales domestically and to Europe, the unit?s chief executive has said. 

Toyota and Nissan, Japan's two top automakers, on June 25 said they will recall more than three million more cars globally because of concerns over airbags involved in eight deaths worldwide.

Japanese automaker Honda on June 22 confirmed a new death linked to an exploding air bag crisis, bringing the global total to eight fatalities -- that has sparked the recall of millions of vehicles.

The company said a woman in Los Angeles died in September last year after the faulty inflator in a 2001 Honda Civic ruptured, firing metal shrapnel at her.

World's largest car manufacturer Toyota has recalled around 6.6 M cars of 27 different models over technical issues.

Five separate issues have been cited according to the BBC, including seat rails, steering columns, windscreen wipers and a glitch with the engine starters.
