Infant killed in Volos traffic accident

A three-month old baby was killed in a traffic accident in the city of Volos, central Greece on Saturday night. A motorcycle driven by a young man hit and dragged the pedestrian who was holding the infant.

According to the information, the motorcyclist was maneuvering while the infant's grandfather, who was holding the baby in his arms, was trying to cross the street.

Bulgaria: Drunk Driver Killed a Child near Dolna Mitropolia

A 4-year-old girl died after an accident in Pleven region, the Ministry of the Interior reports. The accident happened around 21:35 last night on a third-class road after the village of Opanec in the direction of the town of Dolna Mitropolia.

The 30-year-old driver of the car in which the child was traveling lost control, the car left the roadway and hit a roadside tree.

65-year-old man killed in traffic accident involving police car

A 65-year-old man was killed in a traffic accident involving a police car in the Athens neighborhood of Moschato on Wednesday.

The man was pronounced dead at the Attiko Hospital, where he was transferred after being hit by the police car.

Pireaus traffic police are conducting a preliminary investigation into the accident. 

Elderly pedestians killed in Corfu road accident

Police on Corfu are investigating a fatal road incident in which two pedestrians, a couple in their 80s, lost their lives.

The accident took place late on Thursday night, on the Roda-Acharavi provincial road when the couple, aged 80 and 81 years old, were struck by a car being driven by a 31-year-old citizen, who was subsequently arrested.

Car crash near Serres leaves two dead

A car crash on the Thessaloniki-Serres motorway left two people dead and two heavily injured. Reportedly, at 12.05 p.m. a passenger car crashed with a truck in yet unidentified circumstances.

According to the police, the driver of the car and his wife, aged 45 and 48, were killed. Their children, aged 7 and 10, were seriously injured.

Biker crashes into wild boar

A 37-year-old man was injured on Tuesday in Fthiotida in Central Greece after his motorcycle crashed into a wild boar on a provincial road.

According to local news media, the man was on his way to work just before 8 a.m. when a herd of the animals blocked his way, causing him to crash into one of them. 

Traffic fines not deterrent enough: Experts

The need for deterrent penalties on excessive speeding has once again been emphasized by experts since 1,345 people lost their lives in traffic accidents during the past six months.

Thousands of traffic accidents occur every year in the country, mainly caused by excessive speed, carelessness, disobeying the rules and similar reasons.
