Bulk of privatization revenues postponed until 2017

The draft budget tabled on Monday in Parliament provides for major privatization projects to start fetching revenues into the state coffers from 2017, as they will not be completed before the new year.

They concern the regional airports, gas grid operator DESFA, railway service operator Trainose, the Elliniko development in southern Athens etc.

Management crisis heightens within privatization fund TAIPED

State sell-off fund TAIPED saw its management crisis escalate on Thursday night after one of the three remaining governing board members disagreed with decisions promoted by the other two.

The country's creditors have already been made aware of the problem, which began when TAIPED head Stergios Pitsiorlas's was made deputy economy minister.

Woman killed by train in Imathia

A young woman died on Saturday night after being hit by a passing Trainose train in Imathia, northern Greece, local authorities said.

Initial reports suggested the incident took place between the areas of Palaiohori and Alexandreia.

An investigation was under way to determine the precise cause of the fatal accident.

Deadline for Rosco bids is postponed

Greece has extended by three weeks to October 3 a deadline for the submission of expressions of interest in the sale if its rail maintenance firm Rosco, the country's privatization agency said on Thursday.

The sale was relaunched in July after a previous tender was inconclusive and investors were originally due to submit documentation to take part in the process by September 12.

Strikes to halt national, suburban railway services Monday through Wednesday

Service on Greece's national and suburban (Proastiakos) railways was expected to be suspended Monday through Wednesday, as unions have called for continuous rolling strikes following a decision by the country's privatization fund, TAIPED, to accept a bid for the sale of a 100 percent stake in Greek railway operator Trainose.
