Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline

Turkey and Azerbaijan began on Tuesday the construction of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP).

Turkish President Recep Erdogan and his Azerbaijani and Georgian counterparts Ilham Aliyev and Giorgi Margvelashvili attended the inauguration ceremony in Turkey's Kars region.

Turkey and Azerbaijan will on Tuesday formally begin construction on a new gas pipeline costing over $10 billion which will pump gas from the vast Azerbaijani Shah Deniz 2 field across Anatolia to Turkish and EU consumers.

Energy giant BP signed an agreement on March 13 to acquire a 12 percent stake in the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project (TANAP).

The groundbreaking ceremony of the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) is planned to take place next week in the eastern province of Kars, with the participation of presidents from Turkey and Azerbaijan, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Y?ld?z said on March 9.

Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz has described the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) as a priority project for the country.

Turkey fully intends to proceed with the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Southern Gas Corridor projects, Energy Minister Taner Y?ld?z said Feb. 12.

"These projects take advantage of Turkey's geographic position, and Turkey will use that advantage in favor of its neighbors and EU members," Y?ld?z said.

Bulgaria's Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova will take part in the first meeting of the Consultative Council on the Southern Gas Corridor project.

The meeting will take place on February 12 in Baku, Azerbaijan, according to the press office of Bulgaria's Energy Ministry.

Turkish Energy Minister Taner Y?ld?z will be in Baku today to attend the "Turkey-Azerbaijan Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council Meeting."

According to data from the ministry, the meeting will begin on Feb. 12 with opening remarks by Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and European Commission Vice-President Maro? ?ef?ovi?.

There has been a rapid increase in Turkey?s energy consumption, and the country needs to invest around $120 billion in energy projects by 2023, President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an said on Jan. 20.

Turkey and Russia are in talks on the construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline meant to replace the scrapped South Stream gas pipeline project.
