Türkiye 'closely monitoring' aftermath of fire in Germany that killed two Turkish citizens

Türkiye announced on Monday its vigilant attention to the developments following a tragic fire over the weekend in Germany that resulted in the deaths of two Turkish citizens.

"Our Consulate General in Berlin has done inspections at the burned building. Developments are being closely monitored," the Turkish Foreign Ministry stated on X.

Turkish, US officials to discuss ties in Ankara meeting

Senior Turkish and American diplomats will meet in the Turkish capital this week to discuss bilateral ties and regional cooperation, the State Department has announced.

According to a written statement by the State Department, Under Secretary John Bass will travel to Pakistan and Türkiye between Sept. 14 and 18.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has lauded the economic impact of foreign students in Türkiye, highlighting their contribution of $3 billion annually.

"There are 340,000 students [in Türkiye] from 198 different countries in the world. Of them, 95 percent study with their own means," Erdoğan said at an event at Istanbul's Marmara University on Sept. 13.

Turkish intelligence ‘neutralizes’ senior PKK terrorist in northern Iraq

Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization (MIT) "neutralized" a senior PKK/KCK terrorist in northern Iraq, security sources said on Friday.

Azad Akıncı, codenamed Adil Mardin, who responsible for the terror group's activities in the Makhmur camp, was "neutralized" in an operation conducted in Makhmur, northern Iraq.

The terrorist was sought by the MIT with a red notice.

PSEKA condemns Netflix for censoring ‘Famagusta’ under Turkish pressure

The International Coordinating Committee Justice for Cyprus (PSEKA) condemned Netflix's decision to limit the international release of the series "Famagusta" due to pressure from Turkey.

Scheduled to premiere on September 20, the series covers the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus.

New Swedish FM to visit Türkiye in 1st foreign trip: State TV

Swedish state television SVT has announced that newly appointed Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard will make her first foreign trip to Türkiye on Sept. 18.

Tobias Billström's unexpected resignation last week prompted the reshuffle, which saw several key ministers reassigned. Stenergar previously served as migration minister.
