Türkiye's Olympic pistol sharpshooter Yusuf Dikeç has filed to trademark his nonchalant stance at the Paris Games that went viral around the world, his coach said on Sept. 1.

His coach Erdinç Bilgili said that the move to protect the commercial use of his pose with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office came in response to others trying to trademark it without Dikeç's say-so.

The tolerance with which Turkey is treated by the United States and other Western countries is striking.

Turkey is indeed an important force to be reckoned with; however, it constantly shows, with its words and actions, that it diverges from the Western "camp" in crucial matters. 

Antalya, one of Türkiye's hottest tourist spots on the Mediterranean coast, welcomed 11.7 million visitors in the first eight months of 2024.

The number of holidaymakers visiting the city increased by 8.3 percent from the January-July period of last year, said the Culture and Tourism Ministry.

Türkiye on Monday targeted 20 locations in the northern Iraq regions of Zap, Hakurk, Gara, Qandil, Asos, and Metina, areas known to house ringleaders of the PKK terrorist organization, according to the National Defense Ministry.

In recent hours, a video has gone viral on the internet, showing an attack carried out by a group of young Turks on US soldiers.

As seen in the video, the Turks are covering the head of an American with a bag and shouting “yankee go home.”

Türkiye is emerging as this year’s “champion”, showing the biggest price increase among the major Mediterranean tourist markets in terms of vacation packages, with prices 49.5% higher in the “heart” of summer, in July. Across Europe, the increase this year is estimated at an average of 6.6% compared to last year, with Greece slightly higher at 7.5% compared to summer 2023.

Türkiye is not compelled to choose between the EU and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), "as some claim," the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Saturday.




"While strengthening our relations with the East, we seek ways to advance our deep-rooted cooperation with the West," Erdoğan said at the Naval War College Commencement and Flag Handover Ceremony in Istanbul.

Türkiye and Iraq are demonstrating a strong and unified commitment to combating terrorism, Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Öncü Keçeli stated on Thursday.
