Turkish man says US wife kidnapped their twin children, partner claims abuse
A Turkish national and former tour guide identified as Umut. S. has filed a lawsuit over child kidnapping after his wife Jessica Marie S., who is a U.S. citizen, abandoned their Istanbul residence to fly back to the U.S., taking the couple’s twin children with her, daily Habertürk reported on Dec. 21.
Love in between football matches
This week's new release, the romantic comedy "El Değmemiş Aşk" (Untouched Love), is playing for two teams, hoping to appeal to both the female and the male audience during the week-long holiday. There is a love triangle for the women and the leading character as a football fan for the men.

Turkey mourns losses of dozens after Ankara attack
After the bodies of 35 victims of the March 13 suicide car bomb attack in the capital city of Ankara were delivered to their families by the authorities, funeral ceremonies were held all across the country on March 15, as Turkey continued to be gripped by a growing sense of distress and unease following a series of deadly attacks in recent months.

Turkish international striker's father killed in Ankara attack
Among the at least 37 victims of the Ankara attack was Kemal Bulut, the father of Galatasaray's Turkish international striker Umut Bulut.
Umut was himself in Ankara on March 13 for his team's away game against Ankara's Gençlerbirli?i and his father was killed while returning home from the stadium, where he had gone to watch his son play.
'Umut' becomes mascot of cat hospital in central Turkey
A stray cat found two years ago in the Central Anatolian province of Osmaniye without two of his front legs can now walk using only his hind legs, after one year of treatment.
After being found in a sorry state on a railroad by local animal lovers, the cat was taken to the Cat Hospital in the Turkish capital Ankara, where he was taken under treatment.
Over 600 migrants seized by police in western Turkey
More than 600 migrants have been seized by security forces in western Turkey over the past two days, as well as at least 12 human traffickers.
Some 149 migrants were found at a construction site in the resort town of Bodrum on Dec. 9 after police received intelligence that a group of migrants were set to cross over to Greece in a boat, Do?an News Agency reported.

Turkish films win awards in Australia
"Turkish Waves," a cultural event organized by the Asia Pacific Screen Academy in collaboration with the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry and the Australia Foreign and Trade Ministry in the Australian city of Brisbane, left its mark on the 9th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA), known as the Oscars of Asia.

Reception held for Turkish films in Venice
A reception was held on Sept. 6 in Venice for three Turkish films screening at the 72nd Venice Film Festival. Under the auspices of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry, the reception took place at a hotel on San Clemente Island.
This year, young Turkish director Emin Alper's "Abluka" (Frenzy), is among the 21 films competing for the Golden Lion.
